What do you love about this diaper?

I really appreciated the design of the Duo, which functions as both a pocket and an AI2. As an AI2, the insert can be laid over the fleece layer so the shell may be reused, or the insert can be stuffed inside the pocket to provide a stay-dry barrier and a one-piece diaper experience. The pocket opening is at the front of the diaper, which also made removing the insert from a messy diaper easier for us.

We used this diaper with AMP’s two-layer hemp inserts and sometimes added one of AMP’s three-layer hemp boosters for naps and overnight. I loved AMP’s hemp inserts and frequently recommended them, especially for heavy wetters. Together with the Duo shell, they offered a very reliable fit for our little one. We also used these for daycare without any issues.

How did this diaper fit?

I found these diapers fit about average. We tried small, large and one-size versions. The smalls began working well for us at about 10 pounds and lasted until about 18 pounds. The larges began fitting at about 15 pounds and continued through potty training at around 35 pounds.

We did not find the one-size version snug enough for our skinny 8-pound newborn, but started using it after moving out of the smalls. The elastic and extra fabric around the legs created a snug fit against the back, tummy and legs, and we had very little trouble with leaks.

Would I recommend it to a friend?

Yes. AMP Duos made up the majority of our stash. We loved their fit and ease of use and used them almost exclusively with our first little one.

My biggest disappointment was the elastic. After a little over two years of use, the elastic in our large and one-size diapers had deteriorated enough that it needed to be replaced. Because the elastic was stitched in at the front, back and legs, replacing it was more labor-intensive than on some other diapers we owned.

What would you change about this diaper?

I loved the design and look of these diapers, but I wished the elastic had held up better over time. Other diapers in our stash that were used just as frequently still had elastic in good shape for our second baby.
